GFAFB Enlisted Spouses Club

Q: What is the Enlisted Spouses Club (ESC)?

A: The ESC is made up of enthusiastic, cooperative spouses who gather throughout the month to share ideas and encouragement with one another. We live a lifestyle unlike any other, and only fellow military spouses can understand and offer the kind of support and advice that gets us through our unique circumstances like deployments, TDYs and PCSing all around the world. Because of these frequent occurrences, members of the ESC are talented individuals who have learned to be resourceful in every situation, and make friends at the drop of a hat, or orders, for that matter.

Q: What does the ESC do?

A: The goal of the ESC is to increase awareness and well-being of our friends and fellow spouses through various educational outlets and volunteer opportunities, as well as encourage airman and their families to create a worldwide family that connects at Grand Forks AFB. ESC is here to provide a community for these spouses to spend time together, network and have fun.

Q: When and where does the ESC meet?

A: The ESC General Membership Meetings dates are listed on this website under the Meeting Schedule tab.  Occasionally the time and/or place may change, so call ahead or check out this website for up-to-date information.

Q: Who can join?

A: The ESC is an organization consisting of spouses of military personnel, E-1 through E-9, active duty, retired, and reserve. The success of our group is due in part to the diverse membership. The wisdom and strength of those familiar with military life is combined with the energy and fresh ideas of the new spouses to the military~creating an atmosphere unlike any other. At this time, only the spouse of an enlisted service-member can join the ESC. The spouse is welcome to bring the dependants to visit on occasion but they will not be able to become a full member.

Q: What influence does the club have on the Grand Forks AFB Community?

A: The ESC donates and volunteers to several military organizations each year. We sponsor several fund-raising events, and encourage others to participate in order to increase our donation amounts to these deserving and worth while charitable organizations and agencies, including Fisher House, National Military Family Association, Boy and Girl Scouts of America and our very own annual GFESC Military Dependent Scholarship.

Q: Do volunteer opportunities exist within the club?

A: There are many positions within the ESC open for volunteers. For those who are willing and ready, there are a number of ways to help support the ESC, the military, and the Grand Forks community. Seasonal opportunities also become available as we reach into the local community. You can do as much or as little as you want. It is a lot of fun and a great way to meet new people!

Q: What are dues and what are they used for?

A: Membership dues keep the club functioning comfortably. Dues are deposited into an operating expense account that is drawn upon for office supplies, refreshments, door prizes and group projects. For current dues amounts please contact one of the ESC board members.

Q: How can I share information about my organization with the ESC?

A: We would love to hear from any group interested in sharing with the ESC. Please email your requests to
webmaster@gfesc.com as far in advance as possible, so we can review your request and schedule a time that benefits all involved.

Q: Can I promote my business at ESC functions?

A: Many members want to buy or sell products, such as Pampered Chef, Tupperware, etc... If you will be conducting business with members, please do so at another time or place besides an ESC function. Everyone coming to the meetings and socials deserve the same opportunity for a nice break and great time of visiting without feeling pressured to attend or host a show. Remember the Golden Rule before approaching others about your business. ESC will be providing a business directory for those members who wish to make their business public. Please contact one of the ESC board to be included in this list.
